Research Associate: Supporting Laboratory Activities
Become a member of our research team!
As a research associate, you will learn about the specifics of research in psychology in a friendly and welcoming working environment.

What am I going to do?
You will have the opportunity to work closely with other members of the lab (including students, visiting scholars, and the lab director) on one or more of our research projects. Responsibilities may include: data collection and management; transcription and coding; library research; study design; maintenance of lab equipment; participant management; preparation of stimuli and tools for projects; phone screening of potential study participants; and communication with recruitment sites.

In addition to work on specific research projects, collaborators are also expected to contribute to lab maintenance (e.g., entering information into files, cleaning, copying articles, filing, answering the phone, maintaining the website) and attend a weekly lab meeting. During these meetings, we address administrative tasks, discuss conceptual and methodological issues related to clinical psychology and emotion research, review ongoing projects, listen to and provide feedback on articles and presentations, and train research assistants on various research methods. Research collaborators are required to attend and stay for the entire meeting.

Due to the extensive training required to become a research collaborator, we ask for a minimum commitment of eight hours per week (excluding the weekly lab meeting) for at least two quarters. We have found that collaborators who are most satisfied with their experience in our lab are those who have more time to dedicate to our projects.

What qualifications do I need?
We are looking for people with different backgrounds and qualifications.
You do not need to be a Sapienza student; however, you should have an interest in psychology.
It is not necessary to have previous research experience; however, research assistants will start with responsibilities and tasks in line with their previous research experience.
You must be intellectually curious, diligent and conscientious; be interested in culture and emotions; work well with others and be able to commit the necessary time.
As we use different methods in our research, we are also looking for people who have a background in statistics, speak several languages and have a background in anthropology, medicine and philosophy.
Will I be paid or receive credit for the course?
Currently, all our positions as research associates for non-Sapienza students are voluntary and therefore unpaid.
Sapienza psychology students can register for credit for professional training activities (1 credit for 25 hours in total).
With respect to funded projects, public procedures are also periodically opened, which you will find at the following link:
